A Landscape at Sunset

A Landscape at Sunset

Arcylic on canvas board 50cm x 75cm

Direct copy of Claude Joseph Vernet's - A Landscape at Sunset.

Created to improve my skills early in my art journey.

Story

When I lived in London I often visited The National Gallery. The original of this work is there and it's an artwork I really admire. I therefore decided to try to emulate it, so that I could start to understand what's involved with creating such a beautiful piece.

This piece has hung in my home for many years and it brings me a lot of joy and I particular enjoy how calming the piece is.

Technical

The colours of my piece are not as atmospheric as the original, but at this stage of my art journey I would not have known how to achieve this effect. Instead I went with simple colours and whilst it may not emulate the original, I enjoyed the result and it created some nice contrast and let the colour pop in places.

Overall I was very happy with the result as the incredible composition from Claude Joseph Vernet makes such a difference to the outcome.
